Royal Athletic Park is about to be transformed again into a pulsating hub of sport. The buzz is real! This event is a collaboration between Canadian Football League, BC Lions Football Club, City of Victoria BC, Government of British Columbia, and Destination Greater Victoria. It's a testament to what we can achieve together, turning our small city into a stage for epic events, creating lasting memories and economic prosperity. 💪 The 2024 Greater Victoria Sports Awards (GVSA) are now open for nominations. This incredible achievement was made possible by the collaborative efforts of Parkland Secondary School, Saanich School District, Memorial Park Society, the District of North Saanich, the Town of Sidney, and generous local businesses and citizens. 🤝 The ceremony was marked by speeches from esteemed guests and a symbolic ribbon-cutting. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this valuable athletic facility a reality for our community. 🙏 This past week, our team at had the privilege of attending some remarkable sports events that showcased the power of community, collaboration, and the rich sporting heritage of British Columbia. Thanks to the team at BC Sports Hall of Fame, Tom Mayenknecht and Michelle Kitchen, as well as many others for putting on a great conference. 🌟 Thursday: We were honored to be a part of the Sport BC Community Hero Awards, kicking off the BC Sports Hall of Fame 2023 Annual Summit. It was an inspiring evening where we joined Sport BC in recognizing the invaluable contributions of BC Sport volunteers. 🗣️ Friday Morning: The General Meeting of the BC Sports Hall Network provided a platform for insightful discussions on the development of local, regional, and sport-specific sports halls, museums, galleries, and exhibits in our beautiful province. 🍽️ Friday Lunch: The Defining Moments Luncheon, powered by the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific was a heartwarming tribute to the defining moments in British Columbia and Greater Victoria's sports history. It was an opportunity to connect with leaders who have left an indelible mark on our sporting community. Beyond the courts of Indonesia, this narrative continues, resonating all the way to the prospect of Paris 2024. Friends of Victoria Basketball's commitment to showcasing Canadian resilience and skill is truly commendable. The recent feature in the Times Colonist underscores the significance of their work, spotlighting the fusion of dedication and sportsmanship. This event, part of the National Track & Field Tour in Canada, and provides athletes with valuable points towards qualifications to Nationals and the potential to represent Team Canada at Paris 2024. Under beautiful weather, the Victoria Track Classic attracted a vibrant 1,250 attendees who cheered on both Canadian and international athletes. A huge shout out to the partners of the Victoria Track Classic who made this event possible. Kids enjoyed the bouncy castles in the festival zone alongside food and beverage provided by the Victoria Highlanders FC, Papa Johns and FreshCoast Health Food Bar. A special thanks to Nohra Thai Kitchen for providing all the Officials with a delicious healthy meal and providing the athletes with a wonderful post-event buffet. The Victoria Track Classic 2023 set a new benchmark for future editions, and we extend our gratitude to all the athletes, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who contributed to its success. The stage is set - Paris 2024 is around the corner and our Canadian athletes are chomping at the bit. Did you know that the Victoria Track Classic is the last stop in the National Track & Field Tour.
